Hangin' Tough

Happy 5th birthday Kai! We've been hanging out with our best buds Kai, Ian, Elijah and Shiloh. These boys are rough and tough with each other. We try to meet at a park, mall play area, or have lots of time outside where they can get rid of a bit of energy. I just love all of these boys, Naomi too, and am so thankful that they play well together so Amber, Lisa and I can chat. Chat in short. fragmented. often interrupted. sentences. where you often forget. what you were saying.

Sliding with Darin

Our friend Darin, who works with Nathan with the youth, went to Hunter's soccer practice with us and then came over for dinner. Darin has so much energy and loves to play with the boys. Our hot water heater just had to be replaced and the box made a great house. It also made a wonderful slide. The laughter coming from the boys, Hunter especially was quite contagious.

almost fall at the park.

My boys love love to be outside. Even though I love summer, I can. not. wait. for fall to arrive. The weather was perfect last week- a glimpse of fall, so we went to the park. After they boys played on the playground, we went over to a few trees and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I love to watch their imaginations, for example Hunter kept telling me to watch him lay his eggs and watch them hatch! Dirt, sticks, rocks and if they are lucky a worm are their play items of choice lately.

fantastic Friday

Still here for fantastic Friday, but it's winding down. I can barely get "regular" posts in. It's an audio week:

1- This is the link to a sermon on Sunday by my favorite preacher. I'm a bit biased- only a bit. It's a powerful one.

2- One of the illustrations that Nathan used in his sermon was about 2 women who were switched at birth. It's so fascinating- so fascinating. I didn't want to take an hour to listen to it, but I'm so glad I did. This American Life does a phenomenal job at telling stories. Here it is.

This little boy wants to be just like his daddy.

fantastic Friday

1- Balloon wreath. My friend Angie told me about the balloon wreath for birthdays. There are many tutorials on the internet, but this is a good one. I found my straw wreath at Habitat Re-store for super cheap, so keep an eye out at thrift stores. The best balloons I found were at Wal-Mart, Target failed me on this one.

2- The Glow of Gratitude Stephanie and I went to college together and both did Young Life. Her son has TSC and has 2 brain surgeries within the past week. She is a gifted writer and has allowed the Lord to really sustain her family. She beautifully writes about suffering & Franny Crosby- I encourage you to read it!

3- Motherhood is Application The gospel isn't something just for Sunday mornings, it must extend throughout the week- through diapers blowouts, constipation troubles (us this week), runny noses and the mundane of everyday which can be transforming.
